Information about purchasing tickets through the Internet

Dear Customer,

The following information will help you understand the ticket purchasing process and makes it easier for you to complete the steps of the ticket purchasing process. You are kindly asked to read the following carefully to make sure that you are informed of all of the available options and of the applicable conditions.

Start the ticket purchase process by entering the place of departure and the destination (sometimes the station as well), the date information (entering the date, if you know the time of your prospective trip, otherwise choose the Open (no date) option, if you want to buy your ticket without date), along with the number of travellers falling in the various age groups.

Please note that if you take the ‘Open’ (without date) option for any route, you can pick up your whole ticket only in Budapest, at the international ticket office of the Népliget coach station which means we are not able to send you the coupon for the dated journey either.

You can also enter ‘discount for students’ if the traveller concerned is eligible to such discount. (Hungarian student ID , ISIC student ID or IYTC card).

If you have entered a passenger in the ‘children under 16’ category as well, you have to enter the precise date of birth, in order to enable our system to display the relevant discount for you.

Please note that passengers below the age of 16 may take our routes only in the company of an escort of age (over 18 years of age)!

In case the adult person is not the legal representative as well a declaration in 2 languages (Hungarian and at least English) is necessary in order to authorise the accompanist to attend to the child. The declaration is needed in at least 2 copies under the whole duration of travel.

It is suggested to have the filled in declaration in the case as well if the child is accompanied by one of the legal representatives only.

Sample of the declaration can be found on the website of VOLÁNBUSZ in the document „International travel conditions”.

Having entered the requested data click on ‘find’ and the system will show you the services matching the search criteria.

This is where you can see the best prices currently available along with service information (times of departure and arrival, information on available seats).
We ask you to carefully read the legend at “Info” field and by the clickable links.

Please select the service that you have chosen, by clicking in the box next to the price and then the ‘next’ option.

You can choose the price you intend to pay from among the available options, on the ‘Prices’ page. By clicking on the category name and on the name of the discount you can read additional information on the conditions for use.

After selecting the price you reach the ‘Travellers’ page, where you have to enter the data required for the ticket to be made out (e.g. name, number of travel document etc.).

Going on to the ‘Invoicing’ page you are asked to enter the billing data. Please note that if you need a receipt, this is where you need to enter the required data since according to the relevant regulations we cannot make out a receipt once the transaction has been closed!

Passing on to the ‘Payment’ page you can view all of the data you have chosen or entered (service information, ticket price, travellers’ data etc.). Before going on you need to accept the ‘Conditions of travel’.

Those who cannot present the required certificate or card underlying the eligibility for the discount or those who present an invalid certificate or card must pay the difference between the price of the discount ticket and the regular price.

If the date of the trip has not been decided (Open), the system sends you a confirmation of purchase to the e-mail address you have specified for this purpose. You will not be entitled to take a trip just by the confirmation itself!

The buyer or the passenger can pick up the ticket (or tickets, if a group of passengers travel together) at least three hours after purchasing it (or them), before departure at the international ticket office or check-in - depending on their opening hours - at the international ticket office of the Népliget coach station, by presenting the reference code received in the confirmation and a document suitable for personal identification (personal document, passport or new type driving licence), at least 3 hours after purchasing the ticket. Please note that the driving license is not qualified as a travel document therefore it is not possible to travel with it into the territory of European Union.

For tickets have been picked up at the international ticket office printing cannot be asked henceforth.

The opening hours of the international ticket can be found on our website:
http://www.volanbusz.hu/en/about/ourstations

Our check-in service is available for services along the following routes:

Check-in is opened 60 minutes and is closed 15 minutes before departure.

For services not mentioned here we don’t offer the check-in service therefore open tickets bought online for such services can only be picked up in the international ticket office at Népliget coach station during its opening hours.

Open tickets can only be used for travel in case of making a reservation in the local Eurolines offices or agencies. For this a reservation fee is charged. In case of the reservation is made by Eurolines Hungary other fees (for example charges, difference between the prices) may occur.

Tickets purchased together can be picked up only together.

A third person can pick up a ticket purchased on-line only if he/she has an authentic authorisation from the passenger and if he/she certifies his identity. Before making out and handing over the ticket the company’s employee will check eligibility to the discount - in the case of a discount ticket - and the ticket may be issued only if the person taking over the ticket presents the certificate (card) giving entitlement to the discount (e.g. student card, for a discount student ticket).

The receipt proving the purchase transaction can be picked up together with the ticket at the international ticket office.
